Thousands of people have attended the 9th Region boys' basketball tournament over the years. It's the most popular annual sporting event in the Northern Kentucky area.

9th Region Royalty is a book about each of the high school boys' basketball teams crowned region champion since 1947, when an eight-team playoff bracket was first established consisting of the winner and runner-up from four local districts.

Each page has a story about the winning team and what happened during the 9th Region tournament that year. There are also fact boxes with game scores and a scoring summary from the regional championship final. An interesting sidebar or list of players named to the all-tournament team can be found at the bottom of each page.

9th Region Royalty was written by Terry Boehmker, who covered Northern Kentucky high school sports for more than 25 years as a reporter for The Kentucky Post daily newspaper.

Boehmker spent nearly three years tracking down information about 9th Region tournament games. He also collected photographs from library archives, high school yearbooks and individual donors to include on each page. At the end of the book, Boehmker compiled a listing of 9th Region tournament records that cannot be found anywhere else.
